We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Noor Qadeer, a shining star from Carnegie Vanguard High School, on being awarded the prestigious KPRC 2 Senior Scholarship worth $2,500. Qadeer’s remarkable journey is a testament to her resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Qadeer was diagnosed with bone cancer in her junior year of high school, and she had to go through chemotherapy. Because of this, she was required to be homebound or hospitalized, but despite the challenges she has not only maintained a high GPA but has also dedicated herself to educational projects and fundraising efforts that have left a lasting impact on her school community.
Now, thanks to the doctors and nurses who helped her, Qadeer realized that she wants to become a doctor herself and pursue a medical degree at the University of Houston.
“Whether it’s assisting patients with life-altering diagnoses or researching alternative treatment methods for such ailments, I’m determined to give back to a community that has given me the ability to walk normally again,” Qadeer told KPRC 2.
At HISD, we are immensely proud of Qadeer’s accomplishments and commend her for her resilience and determination. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and motivation for all students facing challenges, reminding us that with dedication, hard work, and a positive mindset, anything is possible.
Congratulations, Qadeer!
