Good Evening HISD Community:
HISD is grateful to everyone who worked so hard to get students back in school today. We know families and staff are still recovering from the storm, and we thank you for your commitment to our kids.
With CenterPoint, we are making steady progress in getting the power on and air conditioning running at all our schools. Most of our campuses resumed classes without issue today, and we are looking forward to welcoming more students back tomorrow. Unfortunately, several of our schools still do not have power and/or air conditioning and cannot yet serve their students.
The following campuses will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21:

If your student’s campus is closed tomorrow, staff will be on hand at the school to distribute light meals to students between 7 and 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Campuses will also provide learning packets for students to complete at home if they are able.
ALL OTHER HISD CAMPUSES ARE OPEN. IF YOUR STUDENT’S CAMPUS IS NOT ON THE ABOVE LIST, IT IS OPEN AND WILL OPERATE ON ITS NORMAL SCHEDULE TOMORROW, TUESDAY, MAY 21.
Open campuses will have a relaxed dress code for the next few days as families continue to manage impacts of the storm.
Families in need of support can visit HISD’s distribution site tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. at:
- Youth Development Center Sunrise Center
6050 Bretshire Drive, Houston, TX 77061
Staff will have free food and cleaning supplies for up to 500 families.
