Recognizing Excellence: Angel Castillo Awarded Youth Volunteer Of The Year

We are proud to announce that Angel Castillo, a senior at HISD’s North Houston Early College High School, has been honored with the prestigious Youth Volunteer of the Year award. This accolade is a testament to Angel’s dedication to serving his community and advocating for his fellow students.

Nominated by his teachers for his outstanding commitment to service, Angel has demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities both inside and outside the classroom. Through his collaboration with the City of Houston, Angel has actively engaged in various community service initiatives, making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Angel said the recognition was a “big, big testament of all of the work that I’ve done, to all of the things that I’ve volunteered on, to all of the things that I’ve done at school just give me that feeling of success.”

Angel’s passion for service and advocacy extends beyond his school and community involvement. He has shown a strong commitment to uplifting his peers and advocating for their needs, embodying the spirit of leadership and compassion.

Angel expressed that he wants to be a teacher and and educator at HISD, and even offered some advice to young kids.

“To all the kids that are looking for some inspiration, that want to embark on new challenges, embark on some new opportunities, Angel said. “I would tell them to further involve themselves in their communities.”
