By The HISD Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will host a hiring event on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m.-12 noon at Delmar Fieldhouse located at 2020 Mangum Road.
K-12 educators are invited to attend to learn more about the New Education System and other campus positions. The event will feature both NES and non-NES campus positions as follows:
- Teachers (including Art of Thinking)
- Assistant principals
- Counselors
- Librarian/media specialists
- Nurses
- Office support staff
- Teacher assistants
- Teacher apprentices
- Learning coaches
Compensation for NES and non-NES positions are as follows:
- Non-NES starting teacher salary: $64,000
- NES elementary starting teacher salary: $75,435
- NES middle school starting teacher salary: $80,059
- NES high school starting teacher salary: $82,816
- Special Education, Non-NES starting teacher salary: $80,000
- Special Education, NES starting teacher salary: $86,000
- Bilingual teacher stipend: $5,000
Recent hiring events results
HISD held a job fair specifically for critical shortages in special education, bilingual education and pre-K on June 18 that resulted in 17 offers being made to candidates from the 108 who attended.
The breakdown of the hires is as follows:
- 2 bilingual teachers
- 10 teaching support staff
- 1 teaching assistant
- 4 teaching assistants for special education
Vacancies remain, but district officials hope to make more offers at the event on Saturday.
