HISD Bond Presents Planning Factors Used In Prioritizing Health And Safety

When addressing the board during the June 27 meeting, Superintendent Mike Miles said the administration feels that the 2024 bond is an investment in the city, and that HISD students deserve safe and healthy facilities

“For underserved kids, the community’s school is usually the best way to support families and also raise the educational value proposition for those children and families…So we made a commitment to first think about improving the school before we go to closing it,” Miles said.

Mile said the analysis performed by the district considered facility data, demographic information and also birth rate projections.
