HISD Encourages Parents To Prepare For Hurricane Season

Houston ISD, together with the City of Houston, recommends that parents prepare for the 2024 hurricane season as the first major storm of the hurricane, Hurricane Beryl, moves through the Caribbean on its way to the Yucatan Peninsula and Gulf of Mexico.

HISD has procedures for emergency closing of schools and offices, and the superintendent of schools may close schools and offices due to inclement weather.

Any such announcements regarding closings would be made through its telephone and e-mail notification system, School Messenger, as well as on local radio and television stations.

Individuals who miss the media announcements can call HISD’s Weather Hotline at 713-556-9595 for details, or sign up for text alerts here
