District officials announced that summer school classes and activities are canceled until June 15 due to ongoing recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, according to the online statement released today.
“HISD hopes all our students, staff, and families are safe and well. Due to the effects of Hurricane Beryl, all summer school classes and activities are canceled Thursday, July 11, 2024, and Friday July 12, 2024. All HISD Summer Meal sites are also closed on Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12.”
CenterPoint energy is estimating that 750,000 customers will have their power restored by Sunday night. However, another 400,000 will not be restored until next week.
