Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles recently addressed criticism from Democratic state lawmakers by urging them to either support his efforts or step aside.
In a letter, Miles highlighted the district’s significant improvements in the Texas Education Agency’s unofficial 2024 ratings, where numerous schools saw their grades rise dramatically. He called for unity, encouraging lawmakers to work with him to continue the district’s progress rather than engage in divisive politics.
Miles also invited the lawmakers to visit HISD campuses to witness the positive changes firsthand and to advocate for increased education funding in the upcoming legislative session.
