Houston ISD officials presented detailed plans of the bond proposal process to the board of managers in response to member requests from the previous board meeting June 27.
During the July 16 workshop meeting, officials conveyed the urgency of need for the bond, particularly facilities overhauls such as HVAC and other safety related projects.
Officials including Superintendent Mike Miles answered board member questions regarding the need for the major components of the bond which include the following:
- Safety and health concerns such as air conditioning and water supply
- Building four new CTE facilities and partnerships with private and public sector
- Restoring or rebuilding the districts campuses
The board will vote in August whether to place the bond on the November ballot for voter approval.
