Houston ISD is currently accepting applications for consultants for their Dyad program for the upcoming school year which starts Aug. 12.
The name comes from the word “dyad,” which means something that has two parts. The program’s model is based on the idea that learning comes from knowledge, experience, and perspective.
For example, HISD 8th graders returned early this summer from Japan as part of the Dyad Travel Program that gave them the opportunity to visit Tokyo for a five day journey. The students traveled to Japan in six separate groups, the final of which returned to Houston June 3.
HISD is looking for community members with special skill sets, such as photography, gardening, boxing, golf, yoga, spin, videography, piano, guitar or other subjects to partner with the district.
Dyad consultants contract with HISD schools on a part-time $30/hour basis, offering students high-impact cultural and education opportunities not always available across K-8 campuses.
For community members that are interested, the following options are available:
- Applications can be completed using the HISD Purchasing Services ionwave system.
- Application support, please email dru.perry@houstonisd.org.
- For more information see the HISD DYAD webpage online.
