Scholars from the Miles Ahead Scholars (MAS) Program had the incredible opportunity to spend a day immersed in the world of Vitol Oil and Gas, gaining invaluable insights into the industry and envisioning their paths to success in 2035.
The visit to Vitol Oil and Gas was nothing short of inspiring, as scholars delved into the dynamic and innovative environment of one of the leading companies in the energy sector.
At HISD, we asked our students what their expectations are for 2035, a few years after their graduation.
“After graduation I see myself working for a large company like Apple or like Tesla,” said Theron Boutte, senior at Kashmere High School.
MAS is a college preparatory honors program for Black and Latino male students in HISD. MAS is designed to empower young men of color to pursue their dreams and make a positive difference in their lives, schools, and communities.
The Miles Ahead Scholars program provides courses, college counseling, and community service to young men. Through these services and partnerships, MAS ensures that students are prepared for the college and career of their choice.
Currently MAS has partnerships with Prairie View A&M University, NIKE and VITOL.
We applaud the dedication and enthusiasm of our Miles Ahead Scholars and look forward to witnessing their continued growth and achievements as they strive towards excellence in their chosen paths. Stay tuned for more highlights and success stories as we celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our students across HISD.
