HISD And Houston Food Bank Support Families After Devastating Storm

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible HISD volunteers who stepped up to support our community in the aftermath of last week’s severe storm and tornado. Thanks to their dedication, over 3,000 families received emergency food support, helping them navigate this challenging time.

The HISD team at Sunrise Centers joined volunteers in recollecting food and supplies.

“Being able to provide cleaning supplies and food to our families just addresses the basic needs that our individuals have, which are the services that we provide here at the Sunrise Center Monday through Friday,” Angel Smith, Morefield Sunrise Center coordinator said.

In collaboration with the Houston Food Bank, HISD continues to provide free food and cleaning supplies to families recovering from the storm’s impact. This ongoing effort ensures that our community members have the resources they need to rebuild and recover.

The storm caused significant damage to both families and schools, but the resilience and solidarity shown by our volunteers and partners demonstrate the strength of our community. We are committed to standing by our families and offering support as they work towards recovery.

Thank you to everyone involved for your unwavering support and compassion. Together, we are making a difference.
