HISD Conducting Districtwide Campus Assessment Following Hurricane Beryl

Houston ISD officials are assessing conditions of all campuses in the wake of Hurricane Beryl, which hit the city on July 8, and hope to have a full assessment soon.

Widespread power outages, damaging winds and heavy rainfall caused downed trees and flooded roadways over the entire Houston area and parts of Southeast Texas.

HISD Executive Director of Multimedia Communications Richard Guerra said that a return to normal operations will happen as soon as possible.

Beryl, a category 1 hurricane, killed at least seven people as of July 9, according to Harris County Officials.

CenterPoint Energy is working to restore electricity to more than 1 million customers who are still without power.
