By Houston Independent School District (HISD) proudly acknowledges Miguel Peña and Ángel Bolainez from Scarborough High School for their acceptance into the prestigious West Point Military Academy. These exceptional students have been selected based on their outstanding leadership qualities, remarkable academic achievements, significant community contributions, and received nominations from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
Miguel Peña and Ángel Bolainez’s acceptance into West Point reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence. Their accomplishments not only highlight their individual capabilities but also showcase the quality of education and support provided by HISD.
West Point is the oldest of the five American service academies and was the first American college to have an accredited civil engineering program. Notable alumni from the Academy include Presidents of the United States Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower, poet Edgar Allan Poe, and past presidents of Costa Rica, Nicaragua and the Philippines.
