In a continued effort to strengthen communication between schools and families, Houston ISD has announced it will begin using POSSIP—a platform designed to gather regular input from school communities. Parents and guardians may soon receive messages from POSSIP, inviting them to share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions through brief surveys.
How It Works: Families receive a “Pulse Check” via text or email. After submitting their feedback—whether praise or concerns—POSSIP compiles the responses into a report for the district. Houston ISD then uses these insights to respond to families, address emerging issues, and highlight positive feedback.
POSSIP is designed to make family engagement quick, accessible, and multilingual. Its weekly surveys allow families to respond in their preferred language and focus on topics such as classroom experience, safety, communication, and support. The goal is to create real-time dialogue that helps schools identify trends and make informed decisions.
“Let your voice be heard,” HISD emphasized in a recent post on X, encouraging families to use the opportunity not only to give feedback but also to “shout out your favorite teacher” and celebrate the educators making a difference.
The initiative reflects a growing movement among school districts to adopt technology that increases transparency and builds trust. For a district as large and diverse as Houston ISD, POSSIP could become a key tool in creating more responsive, inclusive campuses—and ensuring that every family feels heard.
