By Houston ISD is co-hosting another round of events on Aug. 10 to help ready students and parents for the upcoming school year that begins Aug. 12.
Giveaways provided will include backpacks, school supplies, immunizations, and food to families in need for the 2024-25 school year.
HISD Back to School Resource Fair & Backpack Giveaway

- Time: 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Location: Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th St., 77092)
HISD will provide free community health resources and an informational resource fair to showcase the resources available to HISD students and their families. They also will provide free backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last. No registration required).
HISD Student Supports Back to School Fair
- Date: Aug. 10, 2024
- Time: 9 a.m.–noon
- Location: Yates High School (3650 Alabama St., 77004) and Wisdom High School (6529 Beverly Hill St., 77057)
HISD Student Supports Department is providing free health screenings, immunizations, parent workshops, and food and uniform distributions (while supplies last).
Back 2 School Daze Annual School Supply Drive

- Time: 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Location: Houston Texans YMCA (5202 Griggs Rd., 77021)
The Houston Texans YMCA invites families to their annual school supply drive. Essential supplies will be provided to teachers and students and attendees can enjoy music, food, and activities as well as fun contests for children every 30 minutes.
GRIND Day Back to School Kickoff

- Time: 4 p.m.–7 p.m.
- Location: GRIND Warehouse (6300 Navigation Blvd., 77011)
GRIND Interactive is holding a back to school giveaway, supplying school essentials to the first 200 Houston elementary and middle school students. The event will include games, a bounce house and food, as well as music provided by FM 93.7 The Beat, and a three-pointer contest for high schoolers.
