The Sam Houston MSTC Mariachi’s Journey from Whataburger to State

With February on the horizon, the Sam Houston MSTC Mariachi is poised to take their talents to the state competition in Seguin. Their win at the Area UIL competition has already proven their exceptional skills, and this next challenge promises to be an exciting opportunity for the group to further showcase their musical abilities. 

After winning sweepstakes at the Area UIL competition, Sam Houston MSTC’s Mariachi group turned a stop at Whataburger into a viral moment by performing with Klein ISD’s Collins High Mariachi. The performance, which quickly gained attention online, showcased the incredible talent and energy of these students.

The collaboration between Sam Houston MSTC and Klein ISD’s Collins High Mariachi was a spontaneous display of musical camaraderie that resonated with many on social media. It highlighted not only the impressive skills of the young musicians but also the power of music to connect students from different school districts and the sense of community. 

Now, following their success at the Area UIL competition, the Sam Houston MSTC Mariachi is preparing to represent the Houston Independent School District (HISD) at the upcoming state competition in Seguin this February.
